After emerging in 2003 as a local curiosity, RoMak & the Space Pirates have continued to expand and appeal to different audiences everywhere with their attention-grabbing music, creative image and unpredictable live show. In many ways, they are a trend blender of pop-culture mashed down, swirled around and pureed into something completely different, yet eerily familiar. They consider themselves "punk-pop": pop music with an intelligent and dualistic edge. Their songs tell stories of ironic forgetfulness in a post-vintage world, obsessing over concepts of show business, glamour, historical pop-culture events and science fiction. Live, they are known for their unique approach to showmanship and human relations. They have been described popularly as a "post-goth glam circus." |
