Alexis Arquette came to the studio in August and lent some guest vocals to our new song "I can't find a place to park"! I'm excited to have her making a special appearance on the debut album. We do a sort of call-out and response thing with the verses. If I may say so, it sounds pretty awesome. We had a lot of fun in the studio together. It was good times. Ironically enough, Alexis had trouble finding a parking spot when she arrived here in Huntington Beach. The song is called "I can't find a place to park." Coincidence??? Hope everyone is doing well!!! Best wishes, RoMak |

After emerging in 2003 as a local curiosity, RoMak & the Space Pirates have continued to expand and appeal to different audiences everywhere with their attention-grabbing music, creative image and unpredictable live show. In many ways, they are a trend blender of pop-culture mashed down, swirled around and pureed into something completely different, yet eerily familiar. They consider themselves "punk-pop": pop music with an intelligent and dualistic edge. Their songs tell stories of ironic forgetfulness in a post-vintage world, obsessing over concepts of show business, glamour, historical pop-culture events and science fiction. Live, they are known for their unique approach to showmanship and human relations. They have been described popularly as a "post-goth glam circus." Their first 2 EP releases have been distributed online and through earthbound stores across the United States and Canada. They are currently preparing their first full-length album, to be entitled "Attack of the Has-Been Androids." RoMak & the Space Pirates has shared concert bills with such acts as Jeffree Star, Violent Femmes, Unwritten Law, Berlin, Sugar Ray, The 88, Lit, The English Beat, the Psychedelic Furs, the Colour, Martyr Plot (featuring Ginger Fish of Marilyn Manson), Union 13, Go Betty Go, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, and Reel Big Fish, as well as a myriad of underground acts. They have performed many charity events for organizations such as The American Cancer Society, World Can't Wait, and the Dome Village Relocation effort. They have also made appearances on various television programs such as the Dr. Phil Show and 'Queer Edge' featuring Sandra Bernhardt. They have graced the pages of Blender Magazine and were once in an Ima Robot music video, even though Ima Robot didn't exactly ask them to be in it. SUNDRY TESTIMONIALS: "...Los Angeles electro jazz punk quartet with a squid fetish...A blast!" -Blender Magazine "Like swing dancing with Gary Numan while drunk on absinthe at Kirk Cameron's birthday party, these guys have created something great out of a time machine of randomness." -Rock City News "RoMak & the Space Pirates has a lot to offer the world musically...and they rock live!" -Ginger Fish, drummer; Marilyn Manson "These are not just four "dudes" who hang out in their parents' garage and play music when the urge strikes them. They are creators raising a separate being." -Music Matters Magazine "The band has good reason to be confident." -Orange Appeal Magazine "I really enjoyed the set, which seemed to fall somewhere between punk rock and performance art." -thepeoplesdanceparty.com "I like RoMak's look!" -Mark Mcgrath, singer; Sugar Ray "RoMak & the Space Pirates makes thought provoking music that challenges the listener to take a look around at his/her reality and question what they perceive." -thebullhorn.net "...four guys with mohawks and skinny ties." -OC Weekly "...a refreshing change of pace..." -Redefine Magazine "I loved your CD!" -Terri Nunn, singer; Berlin "The Universe may not be big enough for them." -Adelphia Cable's 'The Scene' |
